Decree provided for studies and evaluation of partnerships with private initiative President Jair Bolsonaro announced, through social networks, that he revoked Decree nº 10.530 / 2020, which provided for studies and the evaluation of partnerships with the private sector for the construction, modernization and operation of Basic Health Units ( UBS) of the states, the Federal District and the municipalities. In a message on the social network, Bolsonaro denied that the measure changed the public character of the Unified Health System (SUS). “The spirit of Decree 10.530, already revoked, aimed at completing these works, as well as allowing users to search the private network with expenses paid by the Union. The simple reading of the decree at no time signaled the privatization of SUS.”, Wrote the president. Bolsonaro said that "if there is a future understanding of the benefits proposed by the decree, it may be reissued." According to figures presented by the president, Brazil has more than 4 thousand UBS and 168 unfinished Emergency Care Units (UPA) and “there is a lack of financial resources to complete the works, purchase equipment and hire personnel.” The decree is published in an extra edition of the Federal Official Gazette, canceling Decree No. 10,530 / 2020.
